My uncle, formally known to my siblings and I as "Uncle" passed away. It's difficult to say it was expected, as in the grand scheme of things, it was not. Life can simply be cruddy sometimes. He was awesome, and kind, and fun, had a 7 year old, and it just stinks.
I am really trying to realize how fragile things are. How awesome kiddos can be and how grateful I am for family and friends around me.
With the said- my low for the past 10 days is obvious. My highs continue to be attempting to find humor in the ridiculousness that is the 6 and under crowd.
A few highlights:
It was sunny enough for tshirts and parks last week-
Violet is playing with a tire pump. Don't judge- it worked.
Park conversations included Jack asking me what happens if you don't spit, and politely waiting for my response. And Lucy asking me if God likes grown ups.....
I got really ambitious and thought I'd work in the garden.
Wore these kid gardening gloves the whole time.
Lucy continues to struggle with wearing her eye patch. It's my daily piece of hell on earth. The other morning started with "gooood morning girly!!" "not a good morning to you, PATCHMAKER!!"
Of course I burst into song, "patchmaker, patchmaker make me a patch, find me a find, catch me a catch"
She didn't get the reference- as many of you may not either.
She also learned the word "duh" somewhere. I think we've passed the hurdle though with one conversation about it being disrespectful (go parents!). Not without mishap though, "Lucy i told you not to touch that" DUHHHH...sty shelves mom. These shelves are dusty.
Nice try, go sit on the step.
It looks so extravagant but it was the cheapest and easiest to throw party I've ever done.
The girls played upstairs- it was an hour and a half long and at our house. I borrowed pretty things from an awesome family friend, and my 19 year old brother made the Hello Kitty cake.
Done and done. It was awesome, and Lucy was thrilled.
In fact, she said it was "the best day ever"
Keep it simple, people- it's worth it.
The rest of the week proved challenging as I was emotionally exhausted, and trying to keep my patience with nuggets.
Choosing my battles meant a trip to the grocery store in our baseball helmet.
What are you doing guys?
"You'll see"
Not the answer any mother is going to accept.
Sweet Violet took a liking to Lucy's new birthday mermaid
Sister battles followed.
"You're so ignoying Violet"
Lucy has combined the words ignore and annoying and made a unique description that I could find applicable more often than you think. Sometimes things are ignoying.
Concerned he'd been neglected I took middle nugget on a date.
He only continued to prove to me how weird he is.
He did that "dance move" the entire time. Whatever the beat on the overhead music- he was clearly focused and ready.
That brings me up to today; had an encouraging time with friends this morning, and then found a booger in my pocket this afternoon.
Highs and lows people, highs and lows.
Anyways, I'm excited to be back, and promise to be consistent once again now that my life is starting to normalize.
Please keep my fam in your prayers if you're the praying type, and I look forward to getting back on track.
Feel free to tell your friends about my beautiful brood- cause no mom should think she's alone.
Plenty of us find unidentified boogers in our pockets, right???
