Sunday Strolls

Well it's been a quiet couple days in the blogosphere, but we all know that's not the case in the real world of the Smith nuggets!

Lucy has tried to take up badminton
..the same week she started wearing an eye patch.

I'm personally not good at arm sports with two eyes- and she's trying to pull it off with one.

She was also sent home with her classes "travelling pet" if you will.
I guess we'll just ignore the desired comments that could be said of "Pete the Cat", and just be thankful he's not actually a live animal.

Pete had a weekend to remember, a trip to girl scouts, to grandma and grandpa's, and a 2 hour walk with a pit stop at the park.

Lucy wrote all about it in the book that goes back to school documenting Pete's adventures each weekend.
I think this says, "I can't spell and sometimes I forget entire words."

How about the big topic of the weekend- daylight savings time?!?

It quickly goes from love (as I sip my morning coffee while children still sleep) to absolute disgust (as I desperately try to convince them they should be tired and ready for bed, oh and just ignore that the sun is still shining in your face as you lay on your pillow).

It did enable our long family trip park hopping throughout our neighborhood all afternoon. It was fun with the exception that Violet has officially entered the "knows what the park is and must play on it, but has zero respect for anything dangerous and will leap out of any exposed opening the playground structure has to offer.

Don't mind me- I'll just be the crazy mom cutting your story off as I run screaming towards what looks like nothing to you because you've forgotten that phase of toddler.

In the meantime, the swing is a great trap.

Everyone's happy.

And really- what's better than static slide hair?
Not much.

"Can we run to the baseball field" Sure, but go around the water.
You know this ended with Jack literally falling into that water.

Their outfits were covered in mud, but they were tired kiddos- it was a good trade off.

Everyone was told to change as soon as we stepped into our laundry room and I hopped on the computer to check something.

While engrossed in an email filled with old pictures, Jack came and sat on my lap and I scratched his back, kissed the back of his sweaty head etc...normal mama things for a 4 year old.
How very naive of me.

Snuggles rarely come without a price around here- but they are always worth it.

As we walked up our driveway Lucy (who is very keen on when (to the date) the seasons should be changing) noticed something glorious.

Spring is indeed on its way! Blossoms coupled with our neighbor mowing his lawn about did it for me. The day was a success.

Dinner followed, along with conversations about the real reasoning for why we don't run with pens. Lucy, where do you think that pen could end up if you fell? "The recycling??"

No. I'm not actually concerned for the pen, as you apparently think I am.

Fresh box of Tagalongs awaits me this evening; now if I could only convince them all to fall asleep :).
